Surrounded by distilleries, walking trails and amazing wildlife, The Smugglers Hostel in Tomintoul is situated on the outskirts of the Cairngorms National Park.

Once a former school building, The Smugglers Hostel provides budget accommodation for families, outdoor enthusiasts and groups. There are 20 beds, a good range of facilities including private rooms (one with en-suite facilities), a self-catering kitchen and a lounge and adjoining dining area.

Tomintoul is a wonderfully lush and fertile area, most famous for the three 'W's: whisky, walking and wildlife. The Speyside Way enables walkers to visit many local distilleries, including Tamdhu, Knockando, Aberlour, Glenfiddich and Balvenie. Many wonderful low and high level walks also exist on the nearby Glenlivet estate. Activities such as cycling, horse riding, skiing and fly-fishing are all popular here, whilst further away breeding ospreys can be viewed at Loch Garten.
