Surrounded by hills and opposite a thirteenth-century ruined castle, this lochside hostel has recently been fully refurbished and is a wonderful place to relax. You can observe spectacular wildlife from right on the doorstep or tackle the many trails and ridges. Goat Fell (874m) is the island's highest peak, whilst the finest low level trek on the island, the Cock of Arran trail, starts and finishes at the Hostel. The nearby distillery is arguably the best in Scotland, and utilizes the smooth peaty water that trickles into the glen where deer roam freely. Arran has many other activities on offer including off-road biking, pony-trekking, fishing, golfing and watersports.
